Xanthoparmelia Scabrosa is an aphrodisiac and useful for the treatment of erectile dysfunction,  as it induces smooth muscle relaxation allowing for maximum arterial dilation and increased blood flow to the genitals. The Chinese have known for decades that Xanthoparmelia Scabrosa contains substances that greatly inhibit the production of the enzyme Phosphodiesterase-V (PDE-5), allowing for sustained erections. In the body, cyclic Guanosine MonoPhosphate (cGMP) relaxes the muscles around the penis, increasing blood flow, and thus allows a proper erection. PDE-5 binds to and destroys cGMP.
