Skipper 1963 Mattel Inc. Dolls, Blonde #1 & Redhead #2 , Case, Clothing, Extras

Description

Both of the Skipper dolls, clothing, and case belonged to my mother who received them during the mid-1960’s. The dolls, outfits, shoes, extra items and case appear to be in good vintage played-with condition, showing some wear/age/imperfections. However, I am NOT an expert, but I try to describe all items as best I can. Please read these descriptions below and look closely at all pictures for each doll, clothing/outfit , case and extra items as they provide further details and condition of items.
BLONDE SKIPPER DOLL:
Stamped “#1”, and “1963 Mattel Inc.” on her bottom and marked “JAPAN” on bottom of right foot
Straight legs with original blonde hair and make-up.
She is 9”.
Doesn’t have “pierced ears” and no noticeable neck split (I did not take off her head).
Her legs and arms joints move freely (not stuck).
Can make her stand without support. (See photo modeling outfit)
Comes wearing her original red and white swimsuit and red plastic flat shoes marked “Japan” on bottom of shoes.
Slight red discoloration along top of thigh and shoulder where red swimsuit has been; two very small red dots on the back and side of left knee. (See photos close-up)
REDHEAD SKIPPER DOLL:
STAMPED "#2", and "SKIPPER 1963 Mattel Inc." on her bottom and marked “JAPAN” on bottom of right foot.
Straight legs with original red hair and make-up.
She is 9”.
Comes wearing her original red and white swimsuit and red plastic flat shoes marked “Japan” on bottom of shoes.
Her legs and arms joints move freely (not stuck).
Doesn’t have “pierced ears” and no noticeable neck split (I did not take off her head).
Not able to get her to stand unsupported. (See photo modeling outfit)
Slight red discoloration line along top of thigh and shoulder where red swimsuit has been; two very small grey dots on her right lower leg and top of foot. (See photos close-up)
Appears some of the mid-back of head hair plugs are missing hair; upper hair covers when not spread apart as seen in photo. (See photo close-up)
CLOTHING:
1)      Skipper-branded 1964-1965 Red velvet dress coat with white lining, red velvet purse with handle and button closure, red velvet hat, short white tricot gloves, and white flats marked Japan. Please note close-up picture showing repair and small hole on left front arm of coat and gold braid no longer covers the white cord that is broken/not attached on one side.
2)      Skipper-branded Blue and red/white striped swimsuit with blue anchor. Has “run” on front right side and front crotch in stretchy fabric. (see close-up photo) Also has a small “run” on back lower left side. Some of contrast stitching on right front leg and left back leg area is loose.
3)      2 original Skipper red with white stripes swimsuits
4)      2 pairs of original red plastic flat shoes (marked "JAPAN")
5)      Unbranded red dress with small yellow flowers and working snap on back.
6)      Unbranded white knit hat and sweater with flower appliqué on left side. Sweater only has the bottom round button (the other three
are missing). (See photo close-up)
7)      Handmade gray and white striped full skirt with working snap on back.
8)      One additional red plastic flat shoe, marked “Hong Kong”.

EXTRA DOLL-SIZED ITEMS

Vintage 7 yellow and white glass dishes, plastic yellow mirror, green comb, & red brush
CARRYING CASE:
Says on side—“SKIPPER” is the trademark of Mattel, Inc., for its DOLL. Used under license from Mattel, Inc. 1964, Mattel, Inc.
Two small storage boxes are in good usable condition—no holes/tears.
Metal clasp works, holds tight.
Plastic has some separation/tears; some cardboard fray (See photos)
Please note that dolls and outfits were stored in the Skipper carrying case in a box for 50+ years and have always been from a smoke-free home. The outfits appear to be in good vintage condition, showing some wear/age/imperfections. Elastic in swimsuits is aged/no longer as stretchy.
