I would grade this banknote as a good very fine or better with all the details being well preserved. The note has several light folds and light wrinkling, it has general soiling and some light staining mostly along the edges. The note also has minimum roughness along the edges but has no nicks, tears, or splits. The note has no splits, no graffiti, and no pinholes. The corners are intact, mostly squared with minimum rounding but with some creases. The note still retains some of its stiffness and its colors are vivid and not faded.     Description:
    A very nice good very fine or better banknote from the Belgian Congo. This is the 1 June 1955 One Hundred Francs currency note issued by the Central Bank of the Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi. The banknote is green on multicolored underprint. The front depicts the image of King Leopold II at left with the date, serial number and denomination all in French. The back has a brown colored design of a woman and a boy weaving basket in the center and a green star on yellow background in the top right corner. The back also shows the denomination and the name of the issuing bank in Flemish language. This particular banknote has the serial number E 719988, which is displayed twice in black on the front. The note has a watermark showing an elephant's head. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

    Although unmarked, Krause's catalog lists BNB as printer, while the Banknote Book lists Waterlow & Sons as the printer.

    The banknote measures ~6 1/4" by ~3 3/8".
